Advisor Advice: Victoria Rice | Missouri State University

Victoria advises Missouri State University’s Student Activities Council & Traditions Council.

What is your favorite thing about working in student activities?
I love getting to see students come up with awesome ideas and work to bring them to fruition.  Everyday is different and I’m constantly inspired by my students’ creativity.

What skill(s) do you hope students will take from their program board days into their future careers?
I hope that programming board students learn a variety of skills to be successful.  Working in teams, students learn how to resolve conflict appropriately, support one another, and view situations from others’ perspectives.  They also have the opportunity to problem solve and develop resilience for when things don’t go quite the way they expected them to.

If YOU could plan a concert or comedy show on campus, budget isn’t an issue, who would you bring and why?
If I could plan a comedy show, I’d love to do a festival featuring comedians from Big Mouth.  The show is packed full of talented performers (Nick Kroll, John Mulaney, Jenny Slate, Jessi Klein, Jason Mantzoukas) and I think it would be interesting to have them all perform stand-up and then do a panel discussion.

My dream concert would be WATERS, The Wrecks, WALK THE MOON, and Weezer because they are all great bands and I like the alliteration.
