Mary Wright from James Madison University shares Advisor Advice for Fall 2023.
Mary’s Advice for navigating through challenges as a new professional:
As a new professional, the best thing I did was surround myself with people who are willing to brainstorm new ideas and answer my questions. As organized as my students and I are, there will always be situations that come up that we didn’t prepare for and having others there to discuss ways to navigate challenges is key for me.
Mary’s one piece of advice for her students:
Be adaptable and learn from mistakes that have been made. Events have so many moving parts and often won’t match the vision you may have had in your head and that’s okay. Use those hiccups as learning opportunities to create even better events in the future.
